Ikorodu West Declares interest in NYCN Lagos VC East, anoints Asoro

The National Youth Council of Nigeria Ikorodu West Local Branch has declared interest in the seat of Vice Chairman Lagos East Senatorial District in the coming State Congress of the Youth Council. The was made known by the Chairman of Ikorodu West; Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju FCA FCTI. The Chairman made this known while addressing the members of the management on Thursday. He showered praises on the Coordinator who he described as a performer and declare him the choice of the local branch to vie for the position. He expresses his belief that the leaders of the youth council will see from his lens and also ask the state Chairman to rally round Ikorodu Division to support the mandate.

While moving the motion earlier during the management meeting, Comr Abolade Ridwan the President of Igboolomu Youth Movement, an affiliate organization of Ikorodu West noted that Ikorodu West has paid it price in the scheme of things in NYCN in Lagos State and it's time to be considered in the state cabinet. He moved the motion that Comr Asoro Abubakri Olatunji (the Coordinator) be adopted as the candidate of the local branch. His motion was seconded by Olatunji Agbaje from Awori Indigenous Youth. While buttressing the point, Comr Olamilekan Shofile noted that Asoro has paid his price and that serving in two consecutive administrations at the local branch makes him a candidate that will be hard to beat in experience and Lagos East needs an experienced leadership at this point.

While adding his voice, the Deputy Leader of Ikorodu West Legislative Arm; Hon Daisi Batife described Asoro as a humble person with leadership pedigree and charisma with a very bright future. He noted that his candidacy is a round peg in a round hole for Lagos East and he will go all out to ensure it's secured. The Supervisor for Youth And Sport; Hon Okunade Delani and the Supervisor for Community Affairs; Hon Muyideen Yusuf also echoed the same sentiment.

While responding through his remark, the State Chairman; Olamilekan Biliamin Oba noted that "nobody is doubting the performance and capacity of Asoro, in fact, if an assessment of the best coordinator in Lagos State is carried out today and he is not between 1-2, there is fraud", he further asked people to dispel the rumor that he is not supporting Asoro noting that Ikorodu West is his home and it's his duty to protect the interest of Ikorodu West and Ikorodu Division.

To further solidify the process, an LOC was set up for the actualization of the mandate; the members include:
1. Hon Daisi Batife
2. Hon Muyideen Yusuf
3. Hon Okunade Delani
4. Rt Hon Jessica Enita Oba and
5. Hon Jibike Salau

Their mandates include mobilising support and funding for the actualization of the candidacy.

Dignitaries present at the event include the Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Govt; Aarebirin Hon Princess Folashade Olabanji Oba, the Secretary to the Ikorodu West Local Government and pioneer Coordinator; Hon Femi Anifowoshe, the Super for Education; Hon Yomi Shoderu, Hon Councilor for Ward E; Hon Abimbola Owomilowomi among others.
