Governor Abiodun to Swear in Engr. Ogunbona, former HOLGA of Ikenne LG, as Permanent Secretary tomorrow

The Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, CON, will tomorrow, Friday, 7th June, 2024, swear-in Engr. (Mrs.) Olanike Olawunmi OGUNBONA, FNSE, the former Head of Local Government Administration, Ikenne Local Government, as the Permanent Secretary of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission.

The new permanent secretary was appointed by Gov. ABIODUN on 8th April 2024, alongside the duo of Mr. Augustine Adekunle OYESANWEN, a former Director of Agricultural Planning, Grade Level 17; and Mrs. Arinola Nusirat ADETAYO, who was a Deputy Director, Accounts, Grade Level 16.

Their appointments were made known via a release by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo TALABI.

The new Permanent Secretary, was until her appointment, the Head of Local Government Administration, Ewekoro Local Government, Ogun State. She had previously served as Head of Local Government Administration at Ikenne and Ijebu Ode Local Governments.

Engr. Olanike Olawunmi Ogunbona, an indigene of Ijebu-Igbo, is an accomplished female engineer who was formerly the Chairman, Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Abeokuta Chapter.

An alumnus of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, OGUNBONA graduated with a First Class honours degree in Civil Engineering in 1989. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Structures) from the University of Lagos in 1992, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Local Government Studies, also from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, in 2014.
The new Permanent Secretary had earlier attended the Emmanuel Anglican School, Italupe, Ijebu Ode; and Federal Government Girls College, Sagamu, for her primary and secondary education.

Engr. OGUNBONA became a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) in August 1998, and also a COREN-certified Engineer, having received an official recognition from the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in february 2000. In August 2021, she was conferred with the prestigious Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE).

She joined the Ogun State Local Government Service in December 1991 as an Engineer II and rose through dint of hard work and professionalism to become a Head of Local Government Administration, before her appointment as a Permanent Secretary.

The swearing-in ceremony will be performed by the Governor at the State Executive Council Chamber, Governor's Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, tomorrow, and will also feature the swearing-in of two newly-appointed Permanent Secretaries, Mrs. Adejumoke Oluwatoyin ADEWOLE, a Director (State Counsel), Grade Level 17, and the erstwhile Director of Public Prosecutions at the State Ministry of Justice; and Mr. Bernard Olanrewaju OGUNYINKA, a Director of Information, Grade Level 17, in the Ogun State Ministry of Information and Strategy.
