The youth Chairman of Ogun State, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi, on Tuesday July 23rd, 2024, arrived at the palace of the Akarigbo of Remoland, HRM Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi (Torungbuwa II), on a consultation visit to resolve a lingering issue on the youth leadership of Sagamu Local Government.
In an opening remark at the meeting with the Akarigbo, the State Secretary of the youth Council, Com. ‘Dotun Opaleye, reiterated the need for the intervention of the youth Chairman to resume the peace talk he initiated before his pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. This necessitated the invitation to the Akarigbo Palace as all Stakeholders beckon for unity among the youth Leaders.
In his address, Shoremi appreciated the Akarigbo for his unflinching fatherly guidance to the young people of Remo Land and Ogun State by extension, especially at this period of partial breakdown in negotiation by the Leaders of concerned factions. “This issue started in January 2021, after the successful conduct of the youth election in Sagamu Local Government,” Shoremi narrated.
“Some certain youths who felt aggrieved got the nod and sponsorship of some Politicians to withdraw from an already contested election. And today, what we have is about three different leaderships in a contest for superiority.
“Kabiyesi, I am confident to say that other concerned groups longing for the helm of affairs, regardless of their individual association, are known members of the youth Council. And by the grace of God, we will look into all valid concerns. God willingly, all issues will be resolved,” the youth Chairman said.
Reacting to the addresses of the youth Chairman and that of Prince Adeleke Adebajo, the former State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Akarigbo expressed his appreciation for the delegation. He thanked the youth Chairman for finding the time to visit, particularly on the ongoing efforts for harmonization. While stating freedom of association as the right of every individual, Kabiyesi expressed his desire to see the youths of Sagamu in unity.
The State Chairman's delegation included Prince Adebisi Jolaoso, a former acting youth Coordinator of Sagamu Local Government; Com. Oluwole Aduroja, the incumbent acting youth Coordinator and other Executives.
