The youth Chairman of Ogun State, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi, on Saturday November 30, 2024, arrived at Port-Harcout, Rivers State, alongside other 35 State Chairmen of the youth Council for a strategic meeting on the forthcoming nationwide celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
Addressing the youth Chairmen of different States of the Federation at the meeting, the Host and National President of NYCN, Amb. Sokubo Sara-Igbe Sokubo, in his opening remark, glorified the 60th anniversary of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) as a significant milestone of six decades, coordinating
and inspiring young citizens of Nigeria towards the pursuit of individual and collective dreams and
aspirations.
The grand celebration, which is scheduled to hold from December 6 – 8, 2024, at the Port-Harcourt Stadium, Rivers State, will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, exhibitions, and entertainment aimed at showcasing the contributions of Nigerian Youth to nation-building and fostering youth inclusivity in governance and development.
Arising from the meeting, Shoremi confirmed to Journalists the readiness of the youth Stakeholders of Ogun State in attending the grand occasion. “Today, we, State Chairmen of the youth Council across Nigeria, are gathered at the Liverpool Hotel for a meeting with His Youthfulness, Amb. Sokubo Sara-Igbe Sokubo.
“It is an emergency meeting convened to address strategic concerns on the participation of youth Stakeholders across Nigeria. As you are already aware, the prestigious National Youth Council of Nigeria is sixty already. And it is worthy to celebrate the roles we young people play in societal building.
“I am glad to convey the warm felicitations of the youth and Government of Ogun State. And to also reiterate assurances of our participation at this coming event,” he said.
The occasion is expected to have in attendance the President of Federal Republic of the Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the Honourable Minister for Youth Development, Mr. Ayo Olawande; the host Governor, Mr. Siminalayi Fubara; Commissioners for Youth Development of the 36 States, Youth Leaders across Africa, and invited Dignitaries among others.
