The Light Up Iperu Scheme Management Board has appealed to all the residents of the town to promptly pay all their electricity bills due to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Limited.
The Chairman of the board, Prince Wale OYEKOYA, made this appeal at Iperu on Tuesday.
Prince OYEKOYA's appeal is coming on the heels of the stable electricity supply that the town has been enjoying for almost two weeks, and the request from the electricity distribution company on the need for consumers to regularly pay their electricity bills, so that the company will be able to recoup its investment, while also sustaining the provision of uninterrupted power to the town.
He also enjoined all house owners to embrace the installation of prepaid meters in their various homes as this will enhance a proper, accurate, and effective metering of houses on energy consumption and usage.
It will be recalled that the board had in response to the public outcry resulting from erratic and epileptic power supply in Iperu, engaged with the management of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Limited; the Transmission Company of Nigeria; the
Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, CON; as well as the Honourable Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo ADELABU; among other stakeholders; and the resultant effect of those engagements is what is presently being experienced in terms of improved power supply in the town
The board expressed its appreciation to the minister and governor for their interventions, while it appreciates the transmission and distribution.companies for the improved power supply to Iperu.
As part of efforts to consolidate on this development, the board will be embarking on a sensitization programme which includes courtesy visits to Royal Fathers, meetings with the Ward Heads and Community Development Associations, and Town Hall meeting with cross-segment of stakeholders in the town.
Key among issues for discussion during the proposed sensitization are regular payment of bills by electricity consumers, effective metering, security of power infrastructures, and donations and support to the board.
