Ogun Youth Council Lauds NDE on Empowerment Programs, Conveys Ogun Youth Business Development Workshop to Support Young Entrepreneurs

The youth leadership of Ogun State has expressed the commitment of its State Executive Council (SEC) to uphold and promote initiatives on youth empowerment and employment generation. This was made known by the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi, during a working visit to the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on October 3rd, 2024.

The visitation, which discussed potential areas of collaboration between the National Directorate of Employment and the National Youth Council of Nigeria, aimed at exploring areas of interest on skills acquisition and employment generation.

In her welcome remarks, the State Coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment, Alhaja Kehinde Oshinowo, said the NDE has a mission to harness the power of innovation to transform the lives of Nigerian Youth by aligning efforts with the renewed hope agenda, provide sustainable employment opportunities and foster a culture of entrepreneurship.

The youth Chairman, who commended the NDE for its numerous interventions targeted at improving the welfare of the youths, stated that employment generation and youth empowerment are key agendas of the working document of his administration — The Youth Council of our Dreams.

“Since assumption of office, our leadership has been engaging both State and Non-State Actors in securing both moral and financial needs for our young people. This includes the facilitation of ten million naira Grant, through the State Government, to support the businesses of one hundred youths,” Shoremi revealed.

“To upskill the knowledge of our young business men and women in delivering a sustainable economy, we are conveying the Ogun Youth Business Development Workshop by this month end. It is another way of promoting Entrepreneurship and creating job opportunities.

“We recognize the impacts of your organisation’s (NDE) programmes, and our leadership will be grateful for continuous partnerships in delivering our mandate to the youth constituency,” Shoremi concluded.

The visitation availed the youth Chairman more insight into ongoing empowerment programmes of the National Directorate of Employment.
