The youth Stakeholders of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area of Ogun State witnessed a historic moment on Friday, October 18, 2024 as the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) swore in its new Executives for the 2024-2028 tenure.
Supervising the administration of the oath of office, the youth Chairman of Ogun State, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi, congratulated the Executives on the success of the election held on October 10, 2024, at the Local Government Secretariat as witnessed by Government functionaries including Officials of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Officers of the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services, and Youth Officers from the State’s Ministry.
In his address, Shoremi urged the new Executives to prioritize youth development and empowerment opportunities in their mandate. He emphasized the importance of active participation in governance alongside community development initiatives. “In line with the mandate of the youth Council, your leadership is expected to play a significant role in advocating for the rights and interests of young people in the Local Government. You will also collaborate with Government Agencies and other Stakeholders to implement programs and initiatives that will benefit the youth population,” he said.
Delivering his appreciation note, the elected Coordinator, Com. Kazeem Oparanti, expressed his gratitude to the young people of Ado-Odo Ota for the confidence and trust bestowed on his team. He pledged to work tirelessly to promote their interests, contribute to the overall development of the Local Government, and position the youth Council Branch of Ado-Odo/Ota as first among others.
The swearing—in ceremony, which took place at Ogun Youth House, MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, also had an orientation session and presentation of the Certificates of Return to the new Executives. Other NYCN State Executives in attendance were the State Vice—Chairman for Ogun West Senatorial District, Com. Kehinde Damilola; and the State Deputy—Secretary, Com. Kehinde Ademuyiwa.
Other elected Executives included the Deputy Coordinator, Michael Sholagbade; the Treasurer, Idowu Olabisi; the Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Anishere; the Social Secretary, Oladayo Dada; the Auditor, Ahmed Amuda; the Financial Secretary, Temitope Akinde; and the Programmes Officer, Oluwabunmi Oyetoro among others.
